Assallamu Alaykum. 

One of the tournament teams has been found to be in violation of the tournament roster rules.  The rules prohibit having any non-Muslim players who are entirely new to MBL.  (Please note that this rule does not apply to regular summer season.)  The team in question included a new non-Muslim player.  To make matters worse, the team misrepresented that player as Muslim, complete with a false name.  This type of deceit is not only disrespectful, but antithetical to the foundations of the league.  It is disrespectful to the players who look at our league as more than just a place to play basketball.  And it is disrespectful to the players, Muslim and non-Muslim, who have participated and given their utmost respect to our league for so many years.  The fault here lies squarely on the team captain and players who took part in the deceit.  MBL will not tolerate this.

Needless to say, both the games in which this team was in violation will be deemed forfeited.  Further, the MBL Board is in the process of assessing whether additional disciplinary action against the individuals who registered the team is warranted, including the possibility of suspensions or outright bans.
